Professional Experience

Heather L. Brown joined Kingery & Crouse, PA in 2005 as a manager in our audit department. A graduate of the University of South Florida, Heather spent the first several years of her career performing audits and attestation services for multiple non-profit and governmental entities in the Central Florida area. She also obtained certification in Florida Sales and Use Tax from the Florida Department of Revenue and routinely performed Florida sales and use tax audits through the Certified Audit Program. In 1998, Heather joined the accounting firm of Santana & Company, where she continued to perform audit and attestation services, but expanded her duties to include the provision of tax preparation and representation services as a manager and eventual partner with the firm before departing in 2004. During her tenure with the firm her clients included local and regional companies in the retail, not-for-profit, printing and production, investment services, restaurant, construction, marketing, mortgage and entertainment industries. She also continued her work with the Florida Department of Revenue, performing multiple Florida Sales and Use Tax audits under the Certified Audit Program, including that of the first multi-million dollar entity to participate in the program.

Since joining Kingery & Crouse, Heather has served both public and privately-owned clients of the firm in the areas of audit, attestation, consulting, and tax and support services. She has managed multiple public company audits under the requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley act, and routinely works with private businesses whose needs fall between that of a financial audit and basic compilation and/or tax preparation services. Her clients with Kingery & Crouse have included those in the manufacturing, professional services, construction, printing and production, restaurant, recycling, temporary labor, computer and network services, and marketing industries. As a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, Heather is often engaged to work with clients requiring assistance in setting up, cleaning up or improving their utilization of the software. Her understanding of the software has also allowed her to find efficiencies through use of the accounting data in the performance of audit and tax services for those clients that use QuickBooks as their primary accounting package. Heather is a Certified Fraud Examiner and regularly attends accounting and fraud conferences to stay abreast of the latest concerns in this area.
